General bodywork. |
Some compatibility issues. |
Mudguards: Some Vijais shipped with turning mudguards. Mostly these scooters included standard Lambretta GP forks with simple brackets welded on for fixing the mudguards. A few models had a totally different kind of forks set (see below). Headsets: Take care when buying headsets. There are two types. The earlier type (Vijai Super Mark I and Mark II) are compatible with their Italian counterpart headsets. But some Vijai headset tops (type 2) have pre-drilled holes in the sides and even the top (for an indicator monitoring light). Large (type 2) headset bottoms have thicker handlebar mounts and require ‘large diameter’ supporters (see below). This type may also have mirror lugs underneath. |

Forks and handlebar parts |
Not always compatible. |
Some late Vijai models shipped with three-wheeler intended forks that are a totally different style to Innocenti and earlier SIL Lambretta forks. These have fixings for a turning mudguard but also auxiliary SIL suspension. Vijai Super Mark I and mark II scooters used the small diameter handlebars and supporters which are compatible with counterpart Italian GPs and Series 3 scooters. Recent Vijais used a larger diameter that allows a bigger light dim/horn switch which incorporates an indicator switch. |
| Speedometer |
Compatible.
|
The speedometer cable fixing is bigger than the Italian counterpart and an Indian speedo cable will be required or a bigger cable-to-meter fitting screw. Special note – may not fit Italian Series 3 headsets snuggly without modification to speedo case and possibly the retainer bracket. |
|
Lights and electrics |
Check voltage and ignition type. |
Vijai Supers were manufactured with 6v systems, 12v systems and possibly occasionally even electronic ignition systems. |
| Cables |
Compatible. |
Except for speedo cable (see above). |
|
Seat (fixings) |
Compatible. |
As standard, Vijai Super scooters shipped with two seats. But the seat fixing pre-drilled holes are the same as Italian GPs. |
